Why this new website?

 In Blog

Many of my family, friends, and colleagues are wondering what would possess me to come up with a website like RecoverSex.com.  Do I want to have my own TV talk show?  Do I have some obsession with sex and illness?  No, that’s not it.  It has to do with interacting with so many people who’ve had their lives turned upside down by illnesses and medical conditions.  Some have had temporary interruptions in the normalcy of their lives.  Others have had to discover a “new normal”.  Interruptions span the range of not being able to eat normally, sleeping poorly, being unable to drive, all the way to losing your hair, a breast, or the ability to go to the bathroom like you always used to.

It’s sometimes hard to find information about sexual issues when you need it.  Of course there are a variety of books, but this involves a cost and many are outdated.  Some physicians and professional organizations provide resources, but not always.

The Internet is a private and convenient place to find all kinds of information you’re interested in.  When it comes to sex, many people are uncomfortable approaching their doctors or nurses for information.  And many doctors and nurses are’nt any more comfortable talking about sex with their patients!  With RecoverSex.com, I’ve tried to provide a professional, up-to-date website where people can come to find information and ideas about sexual relations following various illnesses and conditions.  I hope you find it helpful!  And if you’re inclined, please share the link with your family and friends.
